2020 Coronavirus: a Feng Shui Perspective

What’s Going On? Part 1

In August of 2019, I started working with clients on the energy of 2020 and discussed trends for the New Year.

Knowing that 2020 is a 7 (soft-metal) year (based on a 10,000-year calendar) and 7 is the fighting star, I knew we were in for a bumpy ride.

Since 7 (in Feng Shui) affects business, children, communication, creativity, the economy, information technology, profits, and telecom (just to name a few areas), those were areas that would be particularly and negatively affected.

We went into great detail in January’s workshop called 2020 Trends on what was coming in 2020. Also, keep in mind that 7 represents marsh (wet) so I knew moisture would be an issue.

Other key points that I discussed in the workshop are the 2-sickness star in the South and the 5-breakdown star in the East.

The South represents the eyes/nose and surrounding areas. The coronavirus is spread by droplets (wet/moisture) and enters the body via eyes and nose.

The 5-breakdown star in the East indicates a couple of things:

1) Severe illness and money loss; and
2) The severe illness would likely originate from China, India, Mongolia, Japan, Russia, or the Northern Pacific region. Then when we look at due East in the United States, the breakdown of communication in Washington D.C. affected all of us.

My background is risk management and so I’m always on the lookout for trends. The point of identifying risks is to empower us with a better response.

Many of January’s workshop attendees circled back to say what we covered is playing out, and hearing what may come they did some preplanning (i.e., bought supplies before coronavirus took hold). Then Gaye (a former school teacher now working with non-profits) reminded me that I said this event was coming a few years back. There’s no satisfaction in that. I share trends and insights so we can prepare and hopefully underutilize those preparations.

I’m a huge Marvin Gaye fan so think of the song “What’s Going On” and its lyrics which mean as much today as they did in 1972 when this live concert was recorded. Gives me goosies!
