Clear Spaces: An Easy Feng Shui Tip for Beginners.

A powerful feng shui process is to clear spaces throughout your house that block the flow of energy.

Traditional Feng Shui looks at the flow and movement of energy within a space and purposefully guides it to have the greatest benefit to the occupants. Its principles maintain that we live in harmony with our environment.

Begin by walking from your front door through your house. Follow the hallways and entranceways to all the rooms on the first floor.

Are there any pieces of furniture that prevent easy access to your kitchen, dining room, or living room?

If you have a great room where you spend a lot of time, be sure to check the flow in and around the room.

Walk through your entire house. Move any items that block the entrance to a room. Move it to a different location or even get rid of unnecessary furniture.

Think of water flowing in through your front door and throughout your house.

Would the water be able to flow through the house from the front door without moving around objects? If not, move the objects. In a past blog post, I talked about the 3 Basic Tenents of Traditional Feng Shui:

1. Everything is alive

Everything. The plants, doors, windows, walls, furniture, and floors. Everything in your home or building is alive, and interacting together.

2. Everything is connected

Everything inside and out is connected. All things, seen and unseen, interact with each other and their environment.

3. Everything is changing

We all know the saying “nothing is certain except change.” We live in a fluid world made up of organic elements: fire, wind, earth, water, air. Just as a river or stream would get damned up and cause havoc if there was a large boulder or tree in it, the same thing happens with energy inside of buildings, including your home.

Having a clean, easy-to-navigate flow of energy in your home helps keep it healthy and alive, which in turn, helps the residents maintain an optimal life within the home.
