There are 3 basic tenets of traditional feng shui:

Everything is alive

Everything. The plants, doors, windows, walls, furniture, and floors. Everything in your home or building is alive, and interacting together.

Everything is connected

Everything inside and out is connected. All things, seen and unseen, interact with each other and their environment.

Everything is changing

We all know the saying “nothing is certain except change.” We live in a fluid world made up of organic elements: fire, wind, earth, water, air.

Leo Tolstoy said, “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.

This is where traditional feng shui comes in.

If things aren’t working it’s time to change.

Traditional feng shui measures your home or building, and the property. By doing precise measurements and calculations, we can map out a plan wherein your home or building takes full advantage of its location and structure.

It begins with the basic structure of your home or building. The placement of doors and windows can mean the difference between chi (lifeforce) that is fresh and alive with energy, or that is stale and damaging.

Feng Shui Builder

There are many feng shui changes you can make inside a home or building.

A room can have too much yin, (or stagnant energy) if it has been unoccupied and dirty for a long time.

  • Cleaning, bright lights, and uplifting music can, literally, clear the air.
  • Happy sounds are always an effective antidote to negative energy.
  • The colors on the walls interact with the energy of the property and the structure as does everything within the walls.

You can compare a positive feng shui house to a piece of clothing that is really wonderful in all aspects — it is beautiful, comfortable, made of exquisite materials, etc.

By the same token, a negative feng shui house is like wearing ill-suited clothing day in, day out, imagine how this feels! It would definitely make you feel restricted, unhappy, angry, and your energy becomes stagnant and blocked.

Sometimes the feng shui changes needed are big, but most often subtle changes can make a big difference.

  • Moving furniture
  • Painting a few walls
  • Adding plants, metallic items, or perhaps water features
  • Moving or adding mirrors or pictures on walls
  • Adding dividers in rooms
  • Changing the color of curtains and/or bedding
